Why Choose Us
Running a small independent business in these days of economic gloom and doom can be challenging. When that business is an independent opticians with the clinical responsibilities for patients eye health it is a double challenge. Couple that with massive underfunding from the NHS and it is a triple whammy!

So why do we do it? Many people ask me why we think we are different, why they should come to us and, as is so often the case, the reason why we do, what we do, and why we are different from other opticians are one and the same.
As independent opticians we came to the profession with the vocation of caring for our patients and this is the prime driver of what we do. Being independent we are not driven by responsibilities to investors and share holders and our measure of success is how well we serve our patients rather than being driven by "the bottom line". Because we enjoy seeing people, forming relationships with them and see them as the individuals they are we hope that, in turn, they enjoy coming to us.
Naturally we have to be the best at what we do, use modern technology and provide great value, equally as obvious is the need to have the best product to respect all budgets, and of course being independent leaves us free to stock what is relevant for each and every geographical location in which we serve.
Not pressuring people into a corner that they feel that have to purchase their way out of is also important to us. If, and only if, a patient genuinely needs a new pair of spectacles whether through wear and tear, a new prescription will we advise our patients giving them the knowledge to make an informed choice. In fact only around half of our patients go on to buy new spectacles following their eye examination. Of course we need to be profitable like any business but it essentially the means by which we go about that which is different. We believe that if we hold care for our patients uppermost in our minds to bottom line will follow.
For us each patient is an individual, someone we look forward to seeing, some one we have a long term relationship with, in short our patients are our friends.
