World Sight Day: 14th October 2011

Did you know that:

80% of all cases of blindness world wide can be prevented or treated.

180 million people world wide are visually disabled.

40 to 45 million of whom are blind.

By the year 2020 these figures will have doubled.

What a sad inditement  of the world in which we live! World Sight Day is an annual event designed to raise awareness around the world and in particular focus on government pledges to help increase access to eye health services.

At our Blandford practice we will donate all the sight test fee's we take on Friday 14th of October 2011 and all the proceeds of repairs done "in-house" during the whole month to this worthwhile cause. If you want to add a personal donation just pop in to the practice at 3 Market Place Blandford, or to any other practice addressing the donation to World Sight Day, care of Jan Goad, Robert Frith Optometrists, Blandford.

Every 5 seconds one person in the world goes blind, every minute a child goes blind. In fact in the time it has taken you to read this around 12 people will have joined those who cannot and are forever in the dark.
