Spectacle Frames

Long gone are the days when spec wearers were an object of derision. Spectacles now are as much a part of the wardrobe as formal evening dress or a pair of jeans. Whatever your taste there’s a design for you.

Please select the brand of your choice for more information:

Sunglasses

Whether you want plain sunglasses or have them made to your prescription with brand names like Oakley, Maui Jim and Rayban you can be assured of cutting edge fashion and superb product quality.

We also supply many less expensive, non-branded sunglasses too, but rest assured whatever the price all our sunglasses provide ultra violet protection so important to the health and comfort of your eyes.

And remember, sun protection isn’t just for summer. Winter sun and glare is just as damaging to unprotected eyes and even more dangerous as it is less noticeable.

Unique Spectacle Lenses for Unique People

For most patients it is the frame that is the important part of their new spectacles, Our job is to care for you by ensuring your new spectacles look fantastic, feel fantastic and help you see fantastically. That's why we have chosen Hoya as our lens manufacturer.

Manufactured using the latest materials and design, through bi-surface freeform manufacturing technology Hoya lenses provide brilliant optics combined with thin, light weight lenses to finish your spectacles to perfection.

Their award winning progressive lens "MyStyle" is designed individually for you, taking into account your particular lifestyle requirements, as well as the style of frame you have chosen. Hoya have also won awards for their tough anti reflection coating "LongLife" which makes the lenses almost transparent, reflection free and gives a tough, durable surface. All in all you can be assured that you will see brilliantly as well as look fantastic. Spectacles truly bespoke just for you.

If you have an active lifestyle, or have spectacle-wearing children you should consider Hoya's PNX material, It's probably the safest lens to put in front of vulnerable eyes.

If your thinking "I've heard that name before" You are probably right. Hoya manufactures the lenses for Pentax cameras and the chances are that the lenses in the laser that is in your CD player or hard disk recorder are also made by Hoya.

Contact Lenses

Whilst contact lenses are freely available online always ensure that you are properly assessed and fitted. It takes careful evaluation and often trial fittings to ensure that you receive lenses that will keep your eyes healthy, and seen clearly and feel comfortable. Often symptoms that contact lens wearers experience can be alleviated by careful fitting and follow–up care.

Your initial contact lens examination will include:

  • Consultation
  • Measurement and evaluation of the eyes
  • Diagnostic fitting of lenses to make certain that you will be able to wear contact lenses successfully and to determine the type and design of lens that will work best for your eyes

With modern technology, individuals with almost any kind of prescription can see clearly and comfortably with contact lenses.

We don’t “own brand” contact lenses, preferring to have access to the whole gamut of technological innovation which is developing almost daily

Apart from our experience and advanced training we continue to attend courses to stay current in the latest contact lens technology and methods.

We fit:

  • Daily and extended wear soft contact lenses
  • Disposable and frequent replacement soft contact lenses
  • Astigmatic (toric) contact lenses
  • Bifocal and multifocal contact lenses
  • Gas Permeable contact lenses
  • Keratoconus* Contact Lenses
  • Hybrid soft and rigid combination contact lenses
  • Cosmetic and therapeutic tinted contact lenses
  • Occluder contact lenses for scarred eyes and for double vision

*Keratoconus is a relatively rare but ever present eye disorder. Basically a keratoconic eye has a thinner than normal cornea that pushes forward into a cone shape meaning that vision deteriorates. The early treatment is by use of specialist contact lenses. These can be complex to fit and our contact lens opticians are specialised in this field. There is a support for those suffering from keratoconus at the “keratoconus self help & support group”.
