“Eyesight is precious” says Karin Tilley, partner and optometrist at Sidmouth.

Regular eye examinations are important to enable early detection of common eye disorders such as cataract & glaucoma as well as some general health concerns such as high blood pressure. Early detection can mean treatment is more effective.

A recent national survey found that almost two thirds (59%) of the population neglected to have an eye examination at least every two years with many believing that they only need to see an optometrist when they have a problem with their vision.

This could mean that some of the general public are neglecting to have proper care for their eye health and vision. Please don’t take your eye sight for granted.

Those over 60 years of age qualify for a free NHS eye exam. Those not entitled to the NHS exam are able to have a private examination, which is £29.75.
