MYOPIA MANAGEMENT
Myopia (otherwise known as short sightedness) is caused by your eyes becoming elongated, which stretches the layers within your eye including your retina and could potentially lead to slight limiting conditions like:
- Retinal detachment
- Macula degeneration
- Cataracts
- Glaucoma
Whilst children with two parents who also have the condition are more likely to develop high levels of myopia, it can affect anybody, and the condition is on the rise worldwide.
How can we manage Myopia?
Luckily, there are services we can offer to help slow the progression of myopia, including spectacle and contact lens solutions designed to be the best for your child and their lifestyle:
- HOYA miyosmart – lenses that use cutting edge technology to provide clear vision and constant myopic defocus at the same time. Child-friendly, easy to adapt to and non-invasive. Clinically proven effectiveness in slowing down myopia progression.
- Zeiss Myocare – lenses that include optical microstructures that induce myopic defocus in the lens periphery and alternating areas of clear focus.
- Coopervision MiSight - contact lenses that have concentric rings etched into the periphery that help to focus light directly into the retina and correct the refractive error without causing the eye to grow longer.
- Menicon Bloom – lenses that work by reforming the shape of the cornea. Worn overnight, then removed in the morning, giving you corrected vision all day.
