Myopia Control Lenses – Slowing the progression of near-sightedness in children
Myopia is common in children and tends to increase as they get older. The Myopia Control contact lenses are worn daily to correct nearsightedness and slow the progression of myopia in children with healthy eyes. They achieve this by focusing some of the light in front of the retina thus reducing the stimulus causing the myopia’s progression.
OrthoK (Orthokeratology) – Corneal Reshaping Technology
Ortho-Keratology lenses are rigid lenses that are designed to be worn overnight. An Ortho-K lens is shaped to gently flatten the cornea to neutralise the prescription to correct myopia so that on waking, the lenses are removed and throughout the day, you can see without contact lenses or glasses.

We are often asked the minimum age a child can wear contact lenses but, the fact is there isn’t one. Each child is different, and some are more practically capable of managing contact lenses at a younger age than others. Depending on the individual, children as young as six may be suitable for contact lenses, particularly if they are shortsighted and experiencing increases in prescription and may benefit from myopia control contact lenses. Parents should feel comfortable that their children are able to take responsibility for their own lenses including cleaning and hygiene. Our staff will be happy to give guidance and can help you decide if your child has the maturity to manage this.
